Webflow is a professional tool that assumes a professional is driving it
Webflow is the better choice for a restaurant group that either employs a designer or keeps one on retainer, because it offers real control over markup, structure and content modelling, and our managed build is the better choice for a single chef-led room that has neither. The comparison is not about capability, it is about the fact that Webflow expects somebody skilled to be in the driving seat.
01
What Webflow does better than the other builders
It gives you a real content model, so a menu can genuinely be a collection of courses rather than text typed into a box, and it gives you control over the markup, which means structured data and clean semantic HTML are achievable rather than approximated. That is the same architectural idea we use. If a restaurant came to us and said they had a Webflow designer on retainer and a well-modeled menu collection, we would tell them to stay where they are.
02
The retainer problem
Webflow rewards skill, which means it also punishes its absence. A restaurant owner handed a Webflow project by a departing designer is in a worse position than one handed a Squarespace site, because the thing that made it good, the custom structure, is the thing that makes it hard to safely edit. What tends to happen is the site freezes: nobody wants to touch the menu collection in case they break the layout, so the menu stops being updated at exactly the point where the kitchen needs it most.
03
What Webflow documents about taking the code with you
Webflow states in its own help center that on paid Workspace plans you can export your HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets and host them anywhere with no attribution required, that code export is only available on Workspace plans rather than Site plans, and that CMS, User Accounts and Ecommerce data are not included in the export. That is a genuinely strong portability position compared with most builders, and better than ours: we transfer your domain free and your content is yours, but our page code stays with the studio. Webflow wins that point and it should be said plainly.
04
The comparison that actually decides it
Both approaches produce a fast, well-structured site. The difference is the operating model. Webflow gives you an excellent tool and expects you to supply the person. We supply the person and do not give you the tool. For a restaurant group with a marketing department, the tool is more valuable. For a chef-owned room where the owner is also the person who would have to learn it, the person is more valuable, and it is not close.
Side by side
The rows below are the ones that actually decide it for a chef-led kitchen. Where a cell describes Webflow, it either reports something read on their own documentation or says plainly that we are not claiming it.
| What matters | Webflow | MenuWebStudio |
|---|---|---|
| Technical ceiling | Very high. Real content modelling and markup control | Custom coded, so the ceiling is what we build rather than what a tool allows |
| Who has to operate it | A designer who knows Webflow, employed or on retainer | The studio. No skill required at your end |
| What happens if that person leaves | The site typically freezes, because nobody wants to break it | Nothing. The team that built it is the team that maintains it |
| Menu as structured content | Yes, if somebody models the collection properly | Yes, modeled around your menu shape as part of the build |
| Code export | On paid Workspace plans, excluding CMS and Ecommerce data, per Webflow documentation | Not offered. Domain and content are yours, page code is ours |
| Page speed | Very good in skilled hands | 90+ PageSpeed guaranteed on mobile and desktop |
| Ongoing cost | Platform plan plus designer time, hourly or on retainer | One monthly fee covering the work as well as the platform |
| Articles | You write them, or pay someone to | 2 or 3 researched articles a week, included |
| Turnaround on a change | Whatever your designer availability allows | 2 to 5 working days, guaranteed, whatever the size |
| Accessibility and policy pages | Buildable, but somebody has to decide to build them | Part of the build, with the policy set your site ships with |
We could not read the Webflow hosting pages directly on the date shown at the foot of this page, so nothing on this page describes their hosting product. Only the code export documentation is quoted, and their current hosting terms should be checked on their own site.
Choose them
When Webflow is the better choice
This is the strongest tool in the comparison set and it deserves a straight answer about when to pick it.
- You have a designer in house or on retainer who already works in Webflow.
- Code portability matters to you, and Webflow documents an export path that we do not offer.
- You are a restaurant group with several properties and an internal team to run them.
- You want to keep unusual interactive design work that a managed studio would flatten out.
- You already have a well-built Webflow site that somebody is actively maintaining.
Choose us
When the managed build is the better choice
The moment the skilled person stops being available, the calculation flips completely.
- The designer who built your Webflow site is gone and nobody dares touch the menu collection.
- You have no intention of hiring a designer and would rather buy the outcome than the tool.
- You want a fixed monthly figure rather than a platform fee plus unpredictable designer hours.
- You want weekly articles and a speed guarantee inside the same arrangement.
- You want a turnaround commitment in writing rather than a place in somebody freelance queue.
Together
Coming from a Webflow site
A Webflow site is usually the best-structured thing we inherit, which makes the migration cleaner than most.
- 01Because your menu is probably already modeled as structured content, the rebuild keeps that structure rather than flattening it.
- 02Existing page addresses are mapped to new equivalents with redirects so nothing already earned is lost.
- 03If you exported code from a Workspace plan, keep it. It costs you nothing to hold and it is a reasonable insurance policy.
- 04Your Webflow site stays live until you have signed off on the replacement.
In their words
What restaurant teams tell us
They pushed us to be precise about seasonal dining menus, which felt slow at first and right at the end. The boundaries are drawn clearly: what the site settles, and what our people still decide. Correcting the site's accidental promises is no longer part of our calls.
Erica GatsbyReservations administrator, Chinese restaurant with banquet roomThe idea that visitors could sort themselves before writing seemed obvious only in hindsight. The sender picks the route, which means the best-informed person does the sorting. Returning customers no longer repeat the whole form to ask one question.
Felix HenshawFront of house supervisor, Modern British restaurantEveryone talks about the new design; I cared more about where the old seasonal dining menus links would land. We reviewed the full redirect map before launch and checked the destinations ourselves. Not one ‘your link is broken’ message arrived after launch.

Questions about Webflow
Is Webflow better than what you build?
In skilled hands Webflow produces excellent work, and on code portability it genuinely beats us: Webflow documents a code export on paid Workspace plans, and we do not offer one. What we offer instead is the skilled hands.
Can you take over our existing Webflow site?
We rebuild rather than take over, because we can only guarantee speed and uptime on a site we build and host end to end. Your existing structure and content are the starting material.
We exported our Webflow code. Is that useful to you?
It is useful to you as a record, and we are happy to read it to understand how your menu was modeled. We will not deploy it, since the guarantee only applies to what we build.
Our designer left. What are our options?
Either hire another Webflow designer, or move to an arrangement where the maintenance is somebody job by default. The failure mode we see most is neither, and the menu quietly stops being updated.
Does Webflow export include our CMS content?
Webflow documents that CMS, User Accounts and Ecommerce data are not included in a code export. Worth knowing if your menu lives in a CMS collection.
How does the cost compare?
Theirs is a platform plan plus designer time, hourly or retained. Ours is one monthly fee with the work included and a one-time build fee invoiced only after launch. Every figure is on the pricing page.
Will our site be as fast?
We guarantee 90+ PageSpeed on mobile and desktop and treat any drop as ours to fix. A well-built Webflow site is also fast, so this is not a differentiator against a good one.
Do you support custom interactive design?
Within reason and within the house design language. If your current site relies on unusual animation work as its main identity, Webflow with a designer is the better home for that.
Can we go back to Webflow later?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name and transferred free, and your content is yours to take. You would rebuild in Webflow rather than receiving our page code.
