GoHighLevel AI and our AI Engine answer different questions

HighLevel AI is built to work across a CRM and the conversations flowing through it, while our AI Engine is built to answer questions about your specific menu, hours and policies on your own website, so the two overlap far less than the word "AI" suggests. If you already pay for HighLevel AI, our AI Engine is not a replacement for it and we will not sell it to you as one.

01

What HighLevel currently offers, from its own documentation

HighLevel documents AI Employee as its offering for accessing and managing supported AI products across agency and sub-account environments, working alongside components it names as Conversation AI, Voice AI, Reviews AI, Content AI, Ask AI and AI Studio. Its own pricing documentation describes a hybrid model: some features included with AI Employee, some free with fair-usage protections, and others billed pay-per-use, with Agent Studio remaining pay-per-use across all plans. Those are HighLevel current descriptions of its own product, read on its help site, and they are the only claims we make about it.

02

What our AI Engine is scoped to do

Our AI Engine, included from The Broadside plan up, is trained on your real menu, hours and policies, and it answers the questions guests ask before booking: dietary accommodations, what a course actually contains, dress code, private dining capacity, whether the vegetarian tasting runs on a Tuesday. It sits on your website, where that question is being asked, and it does not take reservations. It points the guest at the booking system you already use, because nothing about how you manage seating should change when a website changes.

03

Why we scope it that narrowly on purpose

A general-purpose assistant that improvises about food is a liability in a restaurant. A guest asking whether a dish contains tree nuts is asking a question with real consequences, and the only safe answer comes from information your kitchen actually supplied. So the Engine answers from your onboarding material and your current menu, it is refreshed through the same revision process as the rest of the site, and it is not in the business of guessing. We are not a food safety, health or licensing authority and the Engine is not built to behave like one.

04

The overlap, stated plainly

There is genuine overlap in one place: both can answer an inbound question. The difference is the surface and the source. Theirs is strongest in the channels a CRM owns, with the whole contact history behind it. Ours is strongest on the menu page, at the moment a guest is reading the courses and wondering about one of them. A restaurant running both gets the website question answered on the website and the messaging question answered in the CRM, which is the arrangement we would recommend.

Side by side

The rows below are the ones that actually decide it for a chef-led kitchen. Where a cell describes GoHighLevel AI Studio, it either reports something read on their own documentation or says plainly that we are not claiming it.

HighLevel describes its AI products across several help pages and changes them often. We have quoted only what its own help site said on the date shown at the foot of this page, and we did not verify the marketing pages on its main site. Check HighLevel's own documentation before making a decision on it.

Choose them

When HighLevel AI is the right tool

If the question is about conversations rather than the menu, their product is aimed at it and ours is not.

  • You want AI answering across the channels your CRM already owns, with the full contact history behind each reply.
  • You want AI help with campaign content, reviews handling or voice, which are components HighLevel names in its own documentation.
  • Your marketing is run by an agency inside a HighLevel account and adding another AI surface would fragment it.
  • You want one usage bill for AI rather than two, which is a fair reason on its own.

Choose us

When our AI Engine is the right tool

The Engine earns its place at one specific moment: a guest on the menu page with a question about the menu.

  • The same three questions reach your front of house every week and none of them need a human.
  • Your menu is detailed enough that guests genuinely cannot tell what is in a course from the name alone.
  • You want the answer to come from your actual current menu, not from a script somebody wrote once and forgot.
  • You want the training material kept current by the same people who update the menu, with no separate maintenance job.

Together

Running both without duplicating work

The studio sells GoHighLevel work, so this is not a recommendation against their AI. It is a recommendation about which question gets answered where.

  1. 01Our Engine handles menu and policy questions on the website, where the menu is.
  2. 02HighLevel AI handles the conversation once the guest moves into a channel your CRM owns.
  3. 03Enquiries the Engine cannot resolve route into your CRM by API, Zapier or Make, with the context attached.
  4. 04When your menu changes, we retrain ours as part of the same revision. Your CRM configuration is untouched.

In their words

What restaurant teams tell us

  • Everyone talks about the new design; I cared more about where the old seasonal dining menus links would land. We reviewed the full redirect map before launch and checked the destinations ourselves. Not one ‘your link is broken’ message arrived after launch.

Dorian PrescottTable bookings administrator, Mexican cantina restaurantBaton Rouge, LA · Page migration and redirect mapping for seasonal dining menus
  • They pushed us to be precise about seasonal dining menus, which felt slow at first and right at the end. The boundaries are drawn clearly: what the site settles, and what our people still decide. Correcting the site's accidental promises is no longer part of our calls.

Erica GatsbyReservations administrator, Chinese restaurant with banquet roomOmaha, NE · Service scope and expectations for seasonal dining menus
  • The idea that visitors could sort themselves before writing seemed obvious only in hindsight. The sender picks the route, which means the best-informed person does the sorting. Returning customers no longer repeat the whole form to ask one question.

Questions about GoHighLevel AI Studio

Is your AI Engine a replacement for HighLevel AI?

No. Theirs works across a CRM and its channels, ours answers guest questions about your menu on your website. If you already pay for HighLevel AI we will not try to sell ours as a substitute for it.

What does the AI Engine actually answer?

Questions a guest asks before booking: dietary accommodations, what a course contains, dress code, private dining capacity, whether a shorter or vegetarian tasting runs on a given night. It answers from your real menu, hours and policies.

Does it take a reservation?

No. It answers questions and points the guest at the reservation platform you already use. Nothing about how you manage seating changes because your website changed.

Will it invent an answer about allergens?

It answers from the material your kitchen supplied during onboarding and from your current menu. We are not a food safety or health authority and the Engine is not built to act as one, so anything outside what you gave us is handed to a person.

Which plan includes it?

It is included from The Broadside plan up. Launch on that plan runs 10 days rather than 7 because the Engine needs your onboarding answers to train against before it goes live.

How is it kept current when the menu changes?

Through the same revision process as the rest of the site. When we set a new seasonal menu, the Engine is retrained against it in the same piece of work, so it never answers from last season.

What does HighLevel charge for its AI?

Its own pricing documentation describes a hybrid model with some features included, some free under fair-usage protections and some billed per use. Pricing changes, so check HighLevel's own page rather than taking a figure from us.

Can both run on the same restaurant without conflicting?

Yes. They sit on different surfaces. Ours is on the website next to the menu, theirs is in the channels your CRM owns, and unresolved website enquiries route into that CRM with the context attached.

Do you charge usage on top of the plan?

The Broadside plan is billed monthly plus AI usage, which is stated on the pricing page. The other two plans carry no usage component.
